The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) has been approved as an observer organization by the General Assembly of the Iberian-American Program of Science and Technology for Development (CYTED).

• The General Assembly of the Iberian-American Program of Science and Technology for Development (CYTED), meeting in Chiclayo, Peru from 18 to 19 November 2019, unanimously approved the request for the IAI to become an observer organization.
• CYTED supports the Iberian-American region by creating cooperative mechanisms for scientific research and technological innovations intended to enhance production systems and social policies, with funding available to the private sector, research and development centers, and universities in member countries.
• The partnership between the IAI and CYTED, which shares overlapping focal points among 21 member countries via national councils on science and technology, is expected to facilitate joint capacity building, science activities, and mutual funding opportunities.
