A notification from the Executive Director of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) regarding the development of a new Strategic Plan as mandated by Decision XXVI/11 of the 26th Conference of the Parties (CoP-26).

• The 26th Conference of the Parties (CoP-26) in Antigua, Guatemala, adopted Decision XXVI/11, which instructs the IAI Executive Directorate to draft a new Strategic Plan in collaboration with the Scientific Advisory Committee, the Science and Policy Advisory Committee, and relevant stakeholders. This plan is to be presented for consideration at the 27th meeting of the Conference of the Parties.
• The timeline for the Strategic Plan's development includes providing an outline to the Parties for review three months after the close of CoP-26, followed by a first draft five months after that date. In both instances, Parties are granted one month for review, with the final draft to be presented at CoP-27.
• A working group open to the Parties, the Scientific Advisory Committee, and the Science and Policy Advisory Committee has been established to assist the Executive Directorate. Guatemala specifically requested to be part of this group during CoP-26. Interested parties and members of the Executive Council and advisory committees were asked to notify their intent to participate by August 24, 2018.
