N O T I F I C A T I O N

A notification from the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) regarding Party contributions and extra-budgetary funding following decisions made at the 26th meeting of the Conference of the Parties in Antigua, Guatemala.

• The Conference of the Parties adopted Decisions XXVI/3 and XXVI/4 regarding Party contributions, urging timely submissions to the Core Budget according to the basic scale and encouraging extraordinary contributions. Decision XXVI/4 specifically requests that contributions be submitted during the year prior to the applicable year or by the start of that calendar year.
• Decision XXVI/7 urges Parties to provide extra-budgetary financial resources to fund the IAI's scientific agenda, capacity building program, and other activities not covered by the core budget.
• The IAI Directorate reports that 11 Parties are late with their contributions, with 7 of those being three or more years overdue. This lack of funding is stressing the Directorate's ability to complete its activities and fulfill its mandate.
