This briefing from the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) details the outcomes of the 26th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP-26) held on June 20-21, 2018. The meeting resulted in 45 Decisions covering operational budgets, long-term financial and communication strategies, and the adoption of open data principles.

• The CoP-26 meeting, attended by 12 Parties and various observers, adopted 45 Decisions establishing a work program across multiple themes.
• The IAI adopted three long-term strategic frameworks: a long-term financing strategy to ensure economic sustainability, a long-term communication strategy to raise the Institute's profile, and a policy and principles for open data to facilitate access to information from IAI-funded projects.
• Decisions were made regarding the IAI operational budget for the 2018-2019 fiscal year and preliminary budgets for 2019-2021. The Executive Directorate was instructed to monitor Parties with outstanding contributions by sending reminders twice a year to their permanent missions in Montevideo, Uruguay, and to initiate conversations with those in debt for three years or more.
• The IAI decided to draft a new strategic plan to strengthen its scientific agenda and economic sustainability, considering environmental governance frameworks such as the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
• The Executive Council for 2018-2020 was composed of Brazil, Chile, Colombia, United States, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Dominican Republic, and Uruguay. Uruguay was elected President of the Executive Council.
