MEMORANDUM DE ENTENDIMIENTO ENTRE EL INSTITUTO INTERAMERICANO PARA LA INVESTIGACION DEL CAMBIO GLOBAL Y LA ESTACION CIENTIFICA COIBA-AIP

The IAI and COIBA-AIP have agreed to a five-year partnership to strengthen regional capacities for addressing global change. • The IAI and COIBA-AIP will cooperate on initiatives concerning health, climate change, biodiversity, ecosystems, and the role of indigenous peoples and local communities, with a particular focus on the Coiba National Park World Natural Heritage Site.
• The parties intend to enhance scientific capacities to minimize climate change effects and improve the understanding of regional oceanographic processes through the exchange of knowledge and information.
• The agreement outlines specific collaborative actions, including the development of joint funding proposals, the promotion of South-South cooperation, and the facilitation of COIBA-AIP's involvement in the Belmont Forum and its Collaborative Research Actions.
• The Memorandum of Understanding is effective for a period of five years from the date of fulfillment of internal formal requirements, with a provision for termination by either party given 30 business days' written notice.
