MEMORANDO DE ENTENDIMIENTO ENTRE LA DIRECCIÓN EJECUTIVA DEL INSTITUTO INTERAMERICANO PARA LA INVESTIGACIÓN DEL CAMBIO GLOBAL ( IAI) Y EL CENTRO DE INVESTIGACIÓN PARA EL CAMBIO GLOBAL (CICAG)

This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed on November 1, 2023, establishes a framework for collaboration between the Executive Directorate of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) and the Center for Research for Global Change (CICAG) to exchange information and knowledge on transdisciplinary science related to climate change and environmental health.

• The primary objective of the agreement is to enhance collaboration and information exchange regarding transdisciplinary science in several key areas, including environmental health, climate change, biodiversity, ecosystems, and the roles of indigenous peoples and local communities.
• The parties have identified specific areas of cooperation, which include strengthening collaboration between their respective scientific communities, promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in science, and collaborating on scientific diplomacy through the IAI's Regional Center for Scientific Diplomacy.
• The agreement emphasizes the sharing of technical information from projects involving indigenous and local communities, specifically those incorporating traditional lifestyles for biodiversity conservation, sustainable use, and climate change adaptation.
• The MoU is effective for a period of 5 years from the date of signing, unless terminated with 90 days' written notice or replaced by another agreement.
