Action List

The Action List from the Twenty-Fourth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP) of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), held in Santiago, Chile, on 14-15 June 2016, records the administrative and governance decisions made during the session. Key outcomes include the election of the Bureau and council members, approval of the 2016-2017 budget and annual plan, and decisions regarding the search and term limits for the IAI Director.

• The CoP elected a Bureau for its Twenty Fourth Session consisting of Gladys Santis (Chile) as Chair, Fernando Mendez Gaona (Paraguay) as First Vice-Chair, and Kate Vogt (Canada) as Second Vice-Chair.
• The CoP approved the Core Budget Request, the Annual Plan, and unchanged country contribution levels for the 2016-2017 fiscal year, while also accepting financial statements and auditors' reports for the years ending June 30, 2014, 2015, and 2016.
• The 2015 Director Search was interrupted due to procedural errors. The CoP accepted a US-proposed model for the new Director's profile and decided to review the Agreement Establishing the IAI to potentially extend the Director's appointment term to 4 years, renewable once.
• The CoP elected members to the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC), the Strategic Planning Advisory Committee (SPAC), and the Executive Council. The Executive Council for the next two years includes Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Panama, Paraguay, and USA.
• Colombia was selected to host the next CoP. Additionally, the CoP endorsed involving journalists and journalism students in CRN 3 and future CRN4 projects.
