The document is a list of actions and decisions from the 18th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP) of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), held in Asunción, Paraguay, on June 15-16, 2011.

• The CoP established the leadership for its 18th session, appointing Paul Filmer of the USA as President, Fernando Mendez Gaona of Paraguay as First Vice President, and Maria Virginia Alves of Brazil as Second Vice President.
• The CoP approved several financial and operational documents for the 2011-2012 fiscal year, including the Operating Budget, the level of Country Contributions, and the Annual Plan. It also approved the Financial Statement for the 2010-2011 fiscal year and accepted auditor reports for the fiscal years ending June 30, 2009, and 2010.
• A process was initiated to select a host country for the Executive Directorate, with a proposal deadline of November 15, 2011. An ad hoc Host Country Commission was created to advise interested countries and evaluate proposals; its members include Brazil, Canada, Colombia, USA, Dominican Republic, and Paraguay, with Guatemala as an alternate member.
• The CoP approved a one-year Strategic Plan that must address gender, adaptation, and climate change, with Colombia tasked with preparing a paragraph for approval at the next ordinary CoP. Additionally, the CoP requested an Implementation Plan featuring progress indicators for the Strategic Plan.
• The CoP expressed support for the creation of a virtual Water Security Center involving the University of Arizona and the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, noting that the creation of Centers of Excellence for global change research resulted from scientific efforts funded by IAI's CRN and SGP-HD programs.
