Twentieth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP) of the IAI

The Action List from the Twentieth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP) of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), held June 27-29, 2012, in Arlington, Virginia, details administrative decisions including budget approvals, the election of leadership, and the establishment of a committee for the IAI Tripartite Directorate.

• The CoP elected a Bureau for its Twentieth Meeting consisting of Frances Colón (USA) as Chair, Carlos Nobre (Brazil) as First Vice-Chair, and Kathryn Lundy (Canada) as Second Vice-Chair.
• Thirteen delegations submitted official credentials to participate in the meeting: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Paraguay, Peru, the United States, and Uruguay. A quorum requires nine accredited Parties.
• The CoP approved several financial and programmatic items, including the Core Budget Request and the level of Country Contributions for FY 2012-2013, the Financial Statements for the Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2012, and the Annual Program for FY 2012-2013.
• The CoP accepted the Scientific Advisory Committee's (SAC) recommendation to fund eight projects under the Third Round of the Collaborative Research Network Program (CRN 3).
• The CoP established an Implementation Committee for the Tripartite IAI Directorate, with the USA as Chair and Ecuador as Vice-Chair. Members include Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, USA, and Uruguay.
