Beneficios y oportunidades IAI País Miembro del IAI: Ecuador

This fact sheet outlines the benefits, opportunities, and resources available to Ecuador as a member country of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), including funding for research, committee representation, and professional development programs.

• Ecuador has representation across three IAI advisory committees: Mercy Borbor-Córdova serves on the Scientific Advisory Committee (Climate, Environment, and Health), Cristina Elizabeth Fueres Guitarra serves on the Indigenous Peoples Advisory Committee, and Inty Arcos serves on the Science and Policy Advisory Committee.
• The IAI provides seed funding of US$ 15,000 for research projects under the 'Climate, Environment, and Health for the Americas' initiative. In Ecuador, funded entities include the Secretariat of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (SENESCYT) and the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL), with the latter involved in a project titled 'Health Response in the Energy-Environmental Assessment of Buildings' alongside partners from Brazil, Chile, USA, and Colombia.
• Member countries have access to various professional and institutional opportunities, including the Science, Technology and Policy (STeP) Fellowship for early and mid-career public officials, self-managed certified courses via the IAI Virtual Campus, and the ability to nominate members to advisory committees (SAC, SPAC, and IPAC) and institutions for IAI Associates annually before the COP meeting.
