Science Diplomacy Center

The Science Diplomacy Center is an IAI initiative aimed at fostering regional collaboration in the Americas to achieve a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable continent. It focuses on enhancing the role of science and technology in meeting Sustainable Development Goals through two main pillars: the development of a knowledge center for sharing regional information and the improvement of science diplomacy capacities among scientists and decision-makers.

• The Science Diplomacy Center operates on two primary pillars: creating a knowledge center as a platform for accessing regional information, literature, and national strategies, and enhancing science diplomacy capacities by convening scientific communities and decision-makers to address emerging global change issues.
• In Latin America and the Caribbean, science diplomacy is viewed as a mechanism to strengthen the contribution of science and technology toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
• The Center's mission is to support IAI member states in meeting the four objectives of the IAI Strategic Plan and the region's Sustainable Development Goals by establishing a science diplomacy hub and implementing equitable programs to tackle global change.
