Report of the Financial and Administrative Committee (FAC)

The Financial and Administrative Committee (FAC), chaired by the United States, provides a report to the Executive Council of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) regarding the 2025-2026 core budget request and the 2023-2024 audit results.

• The FAC recommends that the Executive Council forward the IAI's core budget request for the 2025-2026 fiscal year to the Council of the Parties for approval. The proposed expenses for this period are approximately USD 1,680,000, which the FAC considers reasonable, appropriate, and responsive to IAI operations.
• The audit report for the 2023-2024 fiscal year resulted in an unqualified opinion, stating that the IAI's financial statements fairly presented the organization's financial position in all material respects.
• To support day-to-day operations and research, a 20 percent increase in member country contributions is proposed for the 2025-2026 fiscal year compared to the 2023-2024 fiscal year. This is followed by proposed increases of 5 percent for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 fiscal years.
• The FAC is a committee of the Executive Council responsible for reviewing IAI Directorate staff salaries, benefits, cost of living and merit increase policies, member country contributions, and financial accounts. It is currently composed of one individual from the United States and the IAI Financial and Administrative Officer acting ex officio.
