Report on the recruitment for the post of Executive Director

This report details the recruitment and selection process for the Executive Director of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), resulting in the election of Dr. Anna Stewart Ibarra.

• The Conference of the Parties elected Dr. Anna Stewart Ibarra as the Executive Director of the IAI during its 2023 Extraordinary meeting, as formalized in Decision 2023/Extra-CoP/1.
• The recruitment process was managed by a 10-member search committee comprising representatives from member countries, the Science-Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC), the Science Advisory Committee (SAC), and the IAI Directorate Staff.
• The selection process began with a vacancy announcement on September 13, 2022, and received 10 nominations from Parties by the November 1, 2022 deadline. The process excluded citizens of Uruguay from candidacy per the Agreement to Establish the IAI.
