Report of the 46th meeting of the IAI Executive Council

The report details the 46th meeting of the Executive Council (EC) of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research, held on 22 June 2018 in Antigua, Guatemala. The meeting focused on electing a new EC Bureau, reviewing decisions from the 26th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP-26), and discussing the implementation of the IAI Strategic Plan.

• The Executive Council elected a new Bureau consisting of Mr. Gabriel Aintablian from Uruguay as Chair, Mr. Jean Pierre Ometto from Brazil as First Vice-Chair, and Ms. Milagro Mainieri from Panama as Second Vice-Chair.
• The new Chair of the EC identified priorities for the intersessional period, including giving extra attention to the Strategic Plan, increasing joint activities with the host country, Uruguay, and re-engaging non-active Parties with the IAI.
• Ecuador expressed its willingness to host the 47th and 48th meetings of the Executive Council, which are scheduled to be held back-to-back with the 27th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP-27).
