• The IAI's capacity-building program utilizes graduate scholarships, technical workshops, and professional development seminars. Efforts are being made to increase participation in Central America and the Caribbean and to integrate community participation and gender considerations into project design.
• For the 2017-2018 fiscal year, the EC accepted an operating budget of US$ 1,420,000, maintaining the same level of member country contributions as the previous year. The United States is the largest contributor, providing 60.75% of the budget (US$ 831,000).
• The IAI's financial position was strengthened by the end of April 2017, with cash flow 179.8% higher than in March 2016, partly due to extraordinary payments from Brazil and other countries. Reserves cover 7.5 months of operation, or 11 months if US committed funds are included.
