Decisions and actions

This document records the decisions and actions taken during the 43rd Meeting of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) Executive Council (EC), held on June 12, 2017, in Bogotá, Colombia.

• The Executive Council (EC) established committees to recommend candidates for two advisory bodies: the Science Advisory Committee (SAC), consisting of Brazil, Paraguay, and the United States, and the Science-Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC), consisting of Chile, Colombia, and the United States.
• The EC issued several directives to the IAI Directorate to improve transparency and strategic planning, including the publication of member country data-sheets on the IAI website regarding contributions and benefits, the drafting of long-term funding and communication strategies, and the creation of an annually updated outreach brochure.
• The EC intends to recommend that the Conference of Parties (CoP) establish an open data policy and principles, and ensure that documents from the EC, CoP, SAC, and SPAC are accessible on the IAI website without requiring a password.
• Regarding financial matters, the EC accepted the Core Budget request for 2017-2018, maintaining current levels of Country Contributions, and accepted the financial statement as of 28 February 2017 and auditors' reports for the periods ending 30 June 2015 and 2016.
• The EC recommended that CoP representatives engage national funding agencies to participate in the Belmont Forum Americas Information Days, scheduled for the first week of November 2017 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
