Informe del Comité Ad Hoc de Finanzas y Administración Evaluación del Presupuesto Básico del IAI 2015-2016

It is proposed that country contributions remain stable for the current year, following an increase in the 2014-2015 fiscal year.
• The IAI faces a difficult operational situation due to accumulated debts from member nations, which amounted to US$1.33 million at the end of the last quarter. This sum is equivalent to the cost of IAI operations for an entire year. These arrears have threatened essential activities, specifically project supervision and outreach (divulgación), which are core to the IAI mission.
• Substantial contributions from Argentina and Venezuela during the previous year were critical to the IAI's continued operations. In the case of Venezuela, these payments covered several years of arrears; without these specific contributions, the IAI would have been forced to restrict its activities.
