This document is an independent auditors' report and financial statement for the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) for the fiscal years ending June 30, 2010, and June 30, 2009. Prepared by BDO Trevisan Auditores Independentes, the report details the Institute's assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses, confirming that the financial statements present the Institute's position fairly in accordance with United States generally accepted accounting principles.

• The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) is an intergovernmental organization established on May 13, 1992, in Montevideo, Uruguay, by sixteen countries of the Americas. Its mission is to support global change research, increase scientific capacity in the Americas, and provide timely information to policy makers.
• The IAI Directorate is located at the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) in São José dos Campos, São Paulo, Brazil, having been elected as the site in September 1994 and inaugurated on March 1, 1996.
• For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2010, the IAI reported total revenues, gains, and contributions of 4,591,021 U.S. dollars and total expenses of 4,113,658 U.S. dollars, resulting in a change in net assets of 477,363 U.S. dollars. This follows a loss in the 2009 fiscal year, where net assets changed by (548,069) U.S. dollars.
• The IAI manages several scientific programs funded largely by the National Science Foundation (NSF). These include the Collaborative Research Network (CRN I and CRN II), the Small Grant Program (SGP I, SGP II, and SGP-Human Dimensions), the Initial Science Program (ISP) Round III, and various Training Institutes.
• The IDRC program, titled 'Land use change, biofuels and rural development in the La Plata Basin', began on March 1, 2008, with a completion date of August 31, 2010. It aims to expand a network of researchers and stakeholders in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
• The Brazilian Government provides the IAI with no-cost resources including premises, equipment, security, and support staff. In 2010, these donated services and utilities were valued at 343,025 U.S. dollars, compared to 264,039 U.S. dollars in 2009.
