Approved Minutes of the Twenty-Seventh Meeting of the IAI Executive Council (EC)

• The IAI is working to bridge the gap between scientific research and political action. The Director suggested that Member Countries use UNESCO representatives to promote "learning platforms" on environmental and Global Change issues to facilitate interaction between the political and scientific sectors.
• The EC identified a need to review the legal arrangements anchoring the IAI in Member Countries. Specific issues were noted in Uruguay, where no Ministry was designated to execute the Agreement, and in Guatemala, where legislation did not specify who should cooperate with the IAI.
• The Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) is tasked with developing a final strategic planning document for presentation at the 2010 CoP. The EC requested the creation of a dedicated space on the IAI Twiki site to allow for the preparation, discussion, and modification of the document.
