QUARTERLY STATUS REPORT YTD – MARCH 31, 2009

Current IAI Core Budget Funds are sufficient to cover 2.0 months of operations based on the annual budget of $1,163,462; however, if expected contributions from the U.S. and other countries were included, reserves would cover 9.1 months.
• Administrative updates include the completion of CRN II program audits from August to December 2008 with satisfactory results. The IAI also transitioned its cash management from Banco do Brasil to Citibank to improve security and began using an armored truck for withdrawals. Additionally, the IAI restructured staff contracts provided by INPE to reduce Core Budget supplements, resulting in estimated annual savings of US$35k.
• The Host Country Agreement with Brazil remains unresolved, though the report indicates positive signs from the Brazilian representation and INPE. A proposal is intended to be presented to the Brazilian representation before the EC/CoP meeting in Bogota.
