• The Collaborative Research Network Program - CRN II is a significant funding stream, with a renewable grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) approved on September 30, 2005. For the period of September 15, 2005, to August 31, 2006, the NSF approved a grant of US$2,197,289.
• The IAI receives support from the Brazilian Government, which provides resources at no cost for its headquarters. In 2008, these donated services, utilities, and fixed assets were valued at US$302,452, up from US$185,777 in 2007.
• The Institute manages several specific research programs, including the IDRC program focusing on land use change and biofuels in the La Plata Basin (started March 1, 2008) and the Mac Arthur program for assessing climate change impacts on biodiversity in the Andes (signed December 18, 2007).
