Additionally, the US stated that NOAA and NASA funds would be available to support the development of Financing and Resource Agreements.
• The CoP elected a new leadership board consisting of Lic. Juan Carlos del Bello (Argentina) as President, Dr. Lindolpho Dias (Brazil) as Vice President, and Dra. Barbara Garea Moreda (Cuba) as Rapporteur. Additionally, new members elected to the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) for three-year terms starting October 1997 include Ronald Woodman (Peru), Ernesto Medina (Venezuela), John Stewart (Canada), and Diana Liverman (USA).
