Informe de la 32.a reunión de la Conferencia de las Partes

This document is a report on the 32nd meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP-32) of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), held via videoconference on May 22-23, 2024. It details the meeting's proceedings, including the adoption of 24 decisions, financial reports, the transition of the Executive Directorate's headquarters from Uruguay to Panama, and the expansion of the IAI's scientific and associate network.

• The CoP-32 adopted 24 decisions during its videoconference sessions on May 22-23, 2024.
• The IAI approved an operating budget for 2024-2025 that includes a 20% increase in voluntary contributions, with preliminary requests for 2025-2027 proposing annual increases of 5%.
• The IAI is transitioning its Executive Directorate headquarters from Uruguay to Panama. To ensure a smooth transition, the Parties requested that Uruguay extend the operation date and diplomatic immunities until July 31, 2025.
• The IAI adopted a new Strategic Plan for the 2024-2030 period.
• Three new entities were invited to become Associates of the Institute: the Climate Science and Resilience Center (CR2) of the University of Chile, the Research and Innovation Support Foundation of the State of Santa Catarina (FAPESC), and the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI).
• The IAI is working to establish two new advisory committees to better integrate indigenous and local knowledge: one for representatives of indigenous peoples and another for representatives of local communities.
• The IAI's Open Data policy is implemented through two main tools: an open data catalog hosted on Harvard Dataverse, containing 23 datasets from 2019-2022, and a publication database with over 600 publications.
• The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) was updated with the reelection of Omar López, Anahí Urquiza, and Mercy Borbor, and the election of Gilberto de Martino Jannuzzi as a new member.
• The IAI's Science Diplomacy Center (SDC) has launched training programs, including an inaugural workshop in Panama in October 2023 and planned workshops in Brazil (December 2024) and Paraguay (May 2025).
