Informe del Comité de Finanzas y Administración (FAC)

This report from the Finance and Administration Committee (FAC) of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) provides an update on the organization's financial status, audit results for the 2021-22 fiscal year, and the proposed operating budget for 2023-2024.

• The independent auditors' report for the 2021-22 fiscal year provided an unqualified opinion, stating that the IAI's financial statements fairly presented the organization's financial position in all material respects.
• The FAC recommends that the Executive Council submit the IAI operating budget for 2023-2024 to the Conference of the Parties for approval. The proposed expenditures are approximately 1,400,000 dollars, which is considered stable and reasonable, and no increase in country contributions is proposed for the coming year.
• The IAI relies on voluntary contributions from its members for daily operations and research oversight. While the ongoing recovery from COVID-19 continues to strain member countries, the long-term health of the IAI is threatened without sustained support through contributions from all members.
• The Finance and Administration Committee (FAC) is currently composed of a member from the United States and the IAI Finance and Administration Officer (ex officio). The committee's mandate expires at the conclusion of the first Executive Council meeting in 2025.
