Aprobación del Informe de la reunión extraordinaria de la Conferencia de las Partes 2023

This document is a report and provisional decision regarding the extraordinary meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP) of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) held on April 18, 2023, specifically concerning the election of a new Executive Director.

• The Conference of the Parties held an extraordinary meeting via videoconference on April 18, 2023, for the purpose of electing a new Executive Director for the IAI.
• Dr. Anna Stewart Ibarra was elected as the Executive Director of the IAI for a three-year term, which may be renewed once.
• The selection process was managed by a 10-member committee comprising representatives from member countries, the Science Advisory Committee (SAC), the Science and Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC), and IAI Executive Directorate staff.
• The selection process involved receiving 10 nominations by November 1, 2022, narrowing them to a shortlist of four candidates for initial virtual interviews on February 13 and 14, 2023, and finally interviewing two candidates on April 11 and 13, 2023.
• The Selection Committee recommended Dr. Anna Stewart-Ibarra based on her 15 years of experience in academia and intergovernmental spaces, including her role as IAI's Chief Scientist since 2019.
• Accredited parties present at the meeting included Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Jamaica, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and the United States, with the Dominican Republic attending as an observer.
