Aprobación del informe de la 30. a reunión de la Conferencia de las Partes

This document is a report from the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) regarding the approval of the report from the 30th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP-30). It includes the proceedings of the CoP-30 meeting held in June 2022 and the provisional decisions resulting from that session.

• The 30th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP-30) took place from June 14 to 15, 2022, in Montevideo, Uruguay, and via videoconference, with 15 Parties presenting credentials to reach a quorum: Argentina, Brasil, Canadá, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Estados Unidos, Guatemala, Jamaica, México, Panamá, Paraguay, Perú, República Dominicana, and Uruguay.
• The IAI is facing significant financial pressure due to the lack of payment of voluntary contributions from member Parties, which threatens the organization's long-term health and its ability to fulfill its work plan.
• The Conference of the Parties approved the Operating Budget for the 2022-2023 fiscal year and the preliminary budget request for 2023-2025, while noting that no changes were made to these figures due to the economic and social challenges caused by Covid-19.
• The CoP-30 initiated the recruitment process for a new Executive Director, as the current director was entering the final year of a second three-year term and is ineligible for further election. It was agreed that candidates must be citizens of an IAI Party.
• The IAI adopted a revised Scientific Agenda and a new Policy on Gender, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion for its scientific projects and capacity-building activities. A dedicated committee including Argentina, Canada, United States, Mexico, Panama, Dominican Republic, and the Belmont Forum was established to implement this policy.
• The IAI is developing a Center for Scientific Diplomacy for the Americas and has implemented the Science, Technology, and Policy (STeP) Fellowship Program. Additionally, the IAI is conducting a Regional Evaluation to better understand the needs of the Parties, with results expected at CoP-31.
• Panama offered to host the 31st meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP-31) in June 2023, which was accepted by the Parties.
