Reseña del Estado Financiero del AF 2021-2022

This document is a financial review of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) for the 2021-2022 fiscal year, detailing contributions from member Parties, operational expenditures, and administrative controls.

• As of April 30, 2022, the IAI had received cash income equivalent to 75% of the approved contributions for the 2021-2022 fiscal year.
• The IAI reports that contributions remaining at the US$5,000 level since 1992 have experienced a loss of approximately 89% in purchasing power.
• Accumulated expenditures from July 2021 to February 2022 totaled US$784,722, which was 15.9% lower than the budgeted amount of US$933,333. This reduction is attributed primarily to the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on international travel and physical meetings.
• Specific expenditure categories showed significant variances from the budget: equipment costs were 91% lower due to service harmonization and centralized IT services, and travel and training costs were 42% lower due to COVID-19.
• A proposed amendment to Article XIII of the Agreement, which would lower the minimum contribution to US$5,000 and allow contributions in multiples of US$1,000, had not yet entered into force because two-thirds of the member Parties had not completed the necessary legal formalities.
