• Internationally hired employees receive specific privileges in the host country, including tax- and duty-exempt import of household goods and the purchase of a car tax- and duty-exempt every two years.
• Compensation for international employees includes an education allowance for children: up to US$1,440 annually for pre-school, US$8,400 for primary and secondary school, and US$15,000 for undergraduate university students.
• The IAI provides a housing allowance for international employees covering 50 percent of monthly rent and associated costs (taxes, condominium expenses, and security), capped at US$1,500 per month.
• Foreign employees are entitled to 22 working days of annual leave for appointments of one year or more. Unused annual leave is paid out upon separation from service up to a maximum of 14 working days.
• The IAI uses a five-point performance rating scale, where Rating 1 indicates corrective action is needed and Rating 5 indicates the employee exceeds all expectations and requires almost no guidance.
