Decision XXVIII/4: Annual Performance Evaluation of the IAI Executive Director

This briefing document, prepared by the Chair of the Executive Council (EC), outlines the process for the annual performance evaluation of the Executive Director of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) for the 2020-2021 intersessional period.

• The Executive Council is mandated by Article VI, paragraph 4b of the Agreement establishing the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research to ensure the Director implements policies adopted by the Conference of the Parties. Furthermore, Decision XXVIII/4 from the 28th meeting (CoP-28) in 2020 specifically instructs the Executive Council to conduct an annual performance evaluation of the Executive Director and report the findings at each Conference of the Parties.
• The Chair of the Executive Council met with the Executive Director on 13 April 2021 to evaluate performance for the 2020-2021 intersessional period. The results of this evaluation are to be delivered as an oral presentation by the EC Chair during item 6 of the agenda at the twenty-ninth meeting of the Conference of the Parties.
