Informe del Consejo Ejecutivo

This briefing is a report from the Executive Council (EC) of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), prepared for the 28th Conference of the Parties (CoP-28) on August 19, 2020. It details the EC's activities, recommendations for the IAI Scientific Agenda, and the status of financial reporting and budget approvals.

• The Executive Council (EC) consists of nine members with two-year terms that expire in August 2020. The current members are Brazil, Chile, Colombia, United States, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Dominican Republic, and Uruguay.
• Efforts to organize a meeting of development banks, funding agencies, and donors in Montevideo, Uruguay, in October 2020 to design a flexible financing mechanism for the Americas were cancelled due to Covid-19. The IAI Executive Directorate plans to schedule a similar meeting during the 2020-2021 intersessional period, depending on external funding.
• The Executive Council recommends that the CoP-28 adopt the revised IAI Scientific Agenda, which was developed based on work by the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) and the Science and Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC).
• The President of the EC has not yet received the IAI audit report or the Financial Status report because the Executive Directorate is missing required documentation and reports from Principal Investigators of CRN3 and SGP projects. Consequently, final approval of the audit, financial status, and the 2020-2021 Operating Budget is subject to review by the Financial and Administrative Committee.
