Informe de los auditores

This document is an independent auditors' report and accompanying financial statements for the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) for the fiscal years ending June 30, 2019, and 2018. It includes a clean audit opinion, balance sheets, statements of operations, and detailed management notes regarding the Institute's funding, research programs, and organizational structure.

• Independent auditors BDO Auditores y Consultores S.R.L. and BDO Consulting Ltda. issued an unqualified opinion stating that the IAI's financial statements present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of the Institute as of June 30, 2019, and its results of operations and cash flows for that year, in accordance with US generally accepted accounting principles.
• The IAI's total assets decreased from 1,911,990 USD on June 30, 2018, to 1,609,410 USD on June 30, 2019. Total net assets for the same period decreased from 1,823,149 USD to 1,524,069 USD.
• The Institute experienced a change in net assets for the year of negative 299,080 USD for the period ending June 30, 2019, which was an improvement over the negative 1,397,617 USD change recorded for the year ending June 30, 2018.
• Total revenues, gains, and contributions for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2019, were 2,598,601 USD, compared to 1,946,271 USD in 2018. This included 1,415,169 USD in unrestricted revenues from member nations in 2019, up from 847,751 USD in 2018.
• Total expenses for the year ending June 30, 2019, were 2,897,682 USD, consisting of 1,325,280 USD in core budget expenses and 1,572,401 USD in research expenses. This is a decrease from the 3,343,888 USD total expenses in 2018.
• The IAI manages several scientific programs funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), including the Collaborative Research Network Program III (CRN III), which had a total approved budget of 10,500,000 USD and an effective period from March 1, 2012, to February 28, 2017.
• The Government of Uruguay provides the IAI with no-cost resources including support staff, office space, and cleaning/common expenses, valued at 125,682 USD in 2019 and 125,231 USD in 2018.
