Anexo 1: Reseña del Estado Financiero del AF 2019-2020

This document, prepared by the Executive Directorate of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), provides a financial review for the 2019-2020 fiscal year and the status of member contributions as of April 30, 2020.

• As of April 30, 2020, the IAI had received cash income equivalent to only 37% of the approved contributions for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. The document notes that 46% of the budget is delayed by more than 3 years, and the lack of expected contributions pressures the Executive Directorate's ability to fulfill its mandate.
• Total expenditures from July 2019 to February 2020 were $892,215, which was 4.4% lower than the budgeted $933,333. This reduction is described as a slight improvement compared to previous fiscal years.
• The COVID-19 pandemic significantly reduced costs in specific categories during the final quarter of the 2019-2020 period, particularly in travel and training, which were 24.9% below budget. Additionally, the pandemic prevented the purchase of two necessary pieces of equipment that were intended to be acquired in the USA.
• Expenditures for information dissemination and outreach were 65.8% higher than budgeted, totaling $21,000 against a budget of $12,667, due to improvements in the website's design and functionality.
• The IAI notes a significant loss in the purchasing power of minimum contributions; since 1992, contributions that have remained at the US$5,000 level have lost approximately 86% of their value.
