• The IAI is working to establish a flexible funding mechanism for the Americas in partnership with the Belmont Forum. Additionally, the CoP-27 invited the establishment of a working group to contact national funding agencies to secure support for IAI's science and capacity-building programs.
• The IAI is implementing several capacity-building initiatives, including the Science, Technology, Policy Fellowship (STeP) program, a research internship program, and seed grant programs, all subject to the availability of external financial resources.
• The IAI has expanded its institutional partnerships, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (OTCA) and another with the Organization of American States (OAS) to strengthen scientific contributions to policy processes in the Americas.
• The IAI is promoting open data and open science through a South-South cooperation approach. This includes collaboration with the Committee on Data (CODATA), the International Science Council (ISC), and the African Academy of Sciences (AAS), as well as hosting its open data platform under Harvard University's Dataverse system.
• The CoP-27 invited the Alexander von Humboldt Biological Resources Research Institute in Colombia and the COIBA AIP Scientific Station in Panama to become associates of the IAI.
