Informe del Consejo Ejecutivo del IAI

This report from the Executive Council (EC) of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) outlines the council's activities and recommendations ahead of the 27th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP-27) in Brasilia, Brazil. The EC provides guidance on the IAI Strategic Plan, the election rules for the Science and Policy Advisory Committee, and the establishment of flexible funding mechanisms for global change projects in the Americas.

• The Executive Council (EC) recommends that the Conference of the Parties (CoP-27) adopt the draft IAI Strategic Plan, which received contributions from EC members including Brazil, the United States, and Uruguay.
• The EC recommends the adoption of draft rules for the election of members to the Science and Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC), developed in collaboration with the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) and the SPAC.
• The EC is supporting the creation of a flexible mechanism to facilitate funding for scientific projects on global change in the Americas, specifically highlighting the Collaborative Research Action (CRA) program of the Belmont Forum as a potential source of alternative funding.
• A selection process for the IAI Scientific Director is underway, with 52 applications received from 13 of the 19 IAI Parties, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Canadá, Chile, Cuba, Estados Unidos, Ecuador, México, Paraguay, Perú, Uruguay and Venezuela. Additionally, applications were received from non-member states such as Guyana, Ethiopia, India, Italy, United Arab Emirates, and Zambia.
• The EC has not yet been able to review the IAI Audit Report or the Financial Status Report because the Executive Directorate has not received all required documentation and reports from Principal Investigators of CRN3 projects.
