Anexo 1: Reseña del Estado Financiero del AF 2018-2019

This document is a financial review of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) for the 2018-2019 fiscal year, detailing member state contributions, operational expenditures, and administrative updates provided by the Executive Directorate for the 27th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties.

• As of April 30, 2019, the IAI had received cash income equivalent to only 37% of the approved contributions for the 2018/2019 fiscal year.
• The IAI reports a significant loss in the purchasing power of member contributions; specifically, a US$5,000 contribution in January 1992 would need to be US$9,113.40 in January 2019 to maintain the same value, meaning those remaining at the US$5,000 level have lost approximately 45% of their purchasing power.
• Accumulated expenditures through February 28, 2019, were 4.4% lower than the operational budget forecast, totaling US$892,215 against a budget of US$933,333.
• Specific budget categories showed varying performance: equipment costs were 50.5% lower than expected due to service harmonization and centralized IT, while outreach and dissemination costs were 65.8% higher due to payments for an editor consultant whose contract ended on December 1, 2018.
• The IAI successfully completed the merger of the Directorate of Scientific Development and the Directorate of Science and Policy Liaison into the Directorate of Integrated Operations and Finance during the 2018-2019 intersessional period.
