Sesión de donantes y contribuciones de las Partes

This briefing document from the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) outlines the purpose and current status of donor sessions and contributions for the 27th Conference of the Parties (CoP) held in Brasilia, Brazil, in June 2019.

• The IAI's financial structure relies on both an operating budget and extra-budgetary contributions. The operating budget is intended to be a minimum amount required for efficient functioning, while extra-budgetary funds are essential for the IAI's scientific agenda, capacity development programs, and other non-operating activities.
• Historically, extra-budgetary funding has been provided by a very small number of Parties, including significant contributions from the United States of America which enabled the Cooperative Research Networks Program. The IAI Executive Directorate considers this reliance on a few sources to be unsustainable in the long term and is seeking to diversify its funding sources.
• The IAI specifies that extra-budgetary monetary resources are used exclusively for programmatic activities.
