Captación de fondos

This briefing from the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) updates the Conference of the Parties on the implementation of Decision XXVI/42, which aims to establish a flexible financing mechanism for global change projects in the Americas.

• Decision XXVI/42, adopted at the 26th meeting of the Conference of the Parties in Antigua in 2018, encourages national funding mechanisms and regional or international development banks to discuss the creation of a flexible mechanism to facilitate funding for global change projects in the Americas.
• The IAI Executive Directorate has encouraged Parties to seek advice from national scientific funding mechanisms regarding participation in the Belmont Forum's Cooperative Research Action (CRA) program. Specific CRAs of interest include the Joint Programming Initiative on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE-JPI), the EU-Africa Research and Innovation Partnership on Food Security, Nutrition and Sustainable Agriculture, and the CRA on pathways to the Sustainable Development Goals.
• Several national entities have expressed interest in participating in the CRA regarding food and climate security, which the IAI identified as particularly relevant for Latin America and the Caribbean. These entities include FAPESP (Brazil), CONCYT (Chile), the National Directorate for Climate Change Adaptation (Ecuador), SENACYT (Guatemala), FHA (Honduras), and SENACYT (Panama).
• The IAI Executive Directorate is pursuing several coordination efforts to increase funding opportunities for regional researchers, including coordinating the 4th round of the Cooperative Research Networking program (CRN4) with current or future CRAs, and exploring collaboration between the European Union and IAI Parties via the JPI Climate Programme's SINCERE work package.
