Informe sobre la implementación de la Estrategia de financiamiento de largo plazo del IAI

This report, prepared by the Executive Directorate of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), outlines the steps taken to implement a long-term financing strategy. The primary focus is the establishment of a capital reserve fund to support the Institute's scientific agenda, capacity development, and policy information provision, as mandated by the IAI Agreement and Decision XXVI/41.

• The IAI is pursuing the creation of a capital reserve fund to generate interest income and secure resources from alternative sources. This fund is intended to support the Institute's scientific agenda, capacity development programs, and the provision of information to policymakers and stakeholders.
• To facilitate the acquisition of external funding from foundations and donors in the United States, the IAI Executive Directorate has engaged the New York-based law firm Halfon & Boehm to obtain 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.
• The IAI has filed IRS Form 1023 to be recognized as a tax-exempt entity. Once this process is complete, the IAI will be eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions from individual donors and foundations.
• The IAI is establishing a non-profit corporation managed by a Board of Directors, consisting of Senior Management officials and external individuals selected for their expertise in fundraising and reserve fund establishment. The law firm Halfon & Boehm has prepared the Articles of Incorporation, a Conflict of Interest policy, and a Whistleblower policy for this entity.
