Report of the IAI Directorate

The IAI Directorate reports the successful July 2018 merger of the Science-Policy Liaison Directorate (Buenos Aires) with the Integrated Operations and Finance Directorate, as mandated by Decision XXVI/19. The report notes that the establishment of a Science Development Office in Brazil was deemed unnecessary and that the transition occurred without service interruptions.

• Following Decision XXVI/19 adopted at the 26th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP-26) in Antigua, the IAI Directorate merged the operations of the Science-Policy Liaison Directorate, based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with the Integrated Operations and Finance Directorate in July 2018.
• As a result of the decisions made at CoP-26, the IAI Directorate informed Brazil that the establishment of a Science Development Office was no longer necessary.
• The integration of services from the Science-Policy Liaison Directorate was completed without interrupting services or advice provided to Parties, with the Program Officer, Science-Policy assuming responsibility for those activities.
