Revisiones de las Normas del IAI sobre Conflictos de intereses y Patrones de Conducta Ética

This document is a report prepared for the 27th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP) of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), proposing revisions to the 'IAI Norms on Conflicts of Interest and Ethical Conduct Patterns'. The report outlines updated restrictions on the participation of Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) and Science and Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC) members in IAI funding calls, and provides a detailed framework for identifying and managing conflicts of interest for IAI staff, reviewers, and representatives.

• The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) and the Science and Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC) agreed that their members are prohibited from submitting proposals to any IAI call, regardless of their role, whether as Principal Investigator, Co-Principal Investigator, IAI consultant, or advisor.
• The prohibition against SAC members submitting proposals to IAI calls extends for a period of 6 months after their participation in the SAC has ended.
• IAI Executive Directorate staff, including the Director, are strictly prohibited from being involved as applicants or presenters of proposals for any IAI call.
• Former IAI Executive Directorate staff are disqualified from participating in Institute programs for one year following the conclusion of their services.
• The IAI defines three primary sources of conflict of interest: personal interest, external affiliations, and favors.
• Specific criteria for disqualification of proposal reviewers include current employment or professorship at a candidate institution, having accepted a fee from the candidate institution in the last 12 months, or having collaborated on a project within the last 36 months.
• Delegates of member countries who have submitted proposals or are employed by institutions submitting proposals are prohibited from participating in Executive Council (EC) or Conference of the Parties (CoP) decisions regarding funding where they have a conflict of interest.
