Membership of the Financial and Administration Committee (FAC)

This briefing document from the IAI Directorate addresses the need for increased membership in the Financial and Administration Committee (FAC) ahead of the twenty-sixth meeting of the Conference of the Parties in June 2018.

• The Financial and Administrative Ad Hoc Committee (FAC) is responsible for acting on behalf of the Executive Council regarding the implementation, preparation, and planning of project management, administrative, and financial issues for the IAI.
• As of the document's date, the United States of America is the only current member of the FAC. The IAI Directorate has sought more members, noting that two Parties expressed interest following notification no. 2018/002 and informal discussions were held with two additional Parties.
• The IAI recommends that nominated members of the FAC possess experience with international organizations as well as financial and budgetary issues, and notes that the member's own country must cover the cost of participation in FAC meetings.
