Terms of Reference

The Terms of Reference for the Open Science Committee (OSciC) establish the committee as an advisory forum for the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) to implement policies and strategic alliances regarding open science, open data, and open access.

• The Open Science Committee (OSciC) is tasked with acting as a forum to provide advice and share information with the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) concerning open access, open data, and open science to support the creation of strategic alliances and Institute-wide policies.
• The OSciC's planned activities include developing guidelines or a policy statement for the IAI, identifying relevant open data platforms and collection standards, creating citation lists for IAI peer reviewed publications, and exploring synergies with organizations such as GEO and the Belmont Forum.
• The Committee's membership includes the IAI Directorate, the Chair of the S.A.C., the Chair of the S.P.A.C., other interested IAI member countries, and specifically Canada, Argentina, Brazil, and the U.S.
