Informe de la Comisión Ad Hoc para la Implementación del Gobierno Tripartito del IAI

This report from the Ad Hoc Commission for the Implementation of the Tripartite Governance of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) details the operational status of its regional offices and the extension of the Commission's mandate.

• The 22nd Conference of the Parties (CoP) in Mexico extended the term of the Commission for the Implementation of the IAI Tripartite Structure until the next CoP. The Commission's membership includes the United States (President), Ecuador (Vice President), Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Uruguay, and remains open to all Parties.
• The IAI's office in Montevideo is operational, with the government of Uruguay having hired two assistants. In Buenos Aires, a director was hired for the Science-Policy Liaison Office in May 2015 to strengthen its activities.
• Three staff members remain in Brazil: one managing financial and tax closures for the IAI in Brazil, one supporting the Uruguayan assistant and CoP23 organization, and one supporting the capacity development program. The IAI is working with the Brazilian government, including the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCTI), the host institution (INPE), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DCTEC - Itamaraty), to finalize a Host Country Agreement for the Scientific Development Office.
