• Members of the SPAC serve three-year terms and may exceptionally serve a second term. The committee is required to maintain a balance of gender, theme, geography, and social sectors, including representatives from the private sector, civil society, and various government levels. While primarily focused on the Americas, members from outside the region may be included exceptionally.
• The mandate of the SPAC includes advising on the policy relevance of IAI planning, defining science-policy program themes and funding strategies, and organizing policy forums. The committee is explicitly prohibited from advocating for specific policy decisions or engaging in lobbying.
