Progress Report of the EC

The IAI Executive Council is managing the transition to a tripartite hosting arrangement for its Directorate, involving Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay. While a distributed structure has been proposed—with the Directorate in Montevideo, science development in São José dos Campos, and science-policy liaison in Buenos Aires—the parties have not yet reached a consensus on the detailed integrated proposal. Additionally, the report notes the resignation of EC Chair Dr. Paul Filmer and the appointment of Dr. Carlos Ereño as acting chair.

• The IAI is moving toward a tripartite hosting model for its Directorate to utilize offers from Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay, aiming to improve the continent's capacity to address global change.
• The proposed distributed structure for the IAI Directorate assigns specific functions to different cities: the main Directorate in Montevideo, Uruguay; science development in São José dos Campos, Brazil; and science-policy liaison in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
• Despite the work of an ad hoc committee composed of Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Uruguay, and the US, the parties have failed to reach a consensus on the detailed integrated proposal for the tripartite setting.
• Following the resignation of Dr. Paul Filmer at the 19th Conference of the Parties, Dr. Carlos Ereño has assumed the role of acting chair of the Executive Council.
