Solicitud de Presupuesto Operativo Año Fiscal 2010/2011

The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) submitted an operating budget request for the 2010/2011 fiscal year, proposing a total of US$1,279,000. This represents an approximate 10% increase over the previous year to maintain operations and services despite a depletion of reserves caused by a lack of member country contributions during 2009 and 2010.

• Scientific activities for the 2010/2011 period include the administration and monitoring of the Collaborative Research Network II (CRN II) and the Small Grants Program for the Human Dimension (SGP-HD), as well as the synthesis phase of the La Plata Basin initiative funded by the International Development Research Center (IDRC).
• The IAI is implementing cost-reduction measures for dissemination and communication by shifting the IAI Newsletter and Annual Report from paper to electronic formats to reduce postage and shipping costs.
• Capacity development initiatives include Interdisciplinary Training Institutes on seasonal climate models for Latin American applications, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from August 2 to 13, 2010, and a second training session planned for November 2010 with the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (CEPAL).
