Annual Program July 2007 – June 2008

The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) outlines its activities plan for the period of July 2007 to June 2008, focusing on program implementation, strategic planning, and international collaborations.

• The IAI plans to implement the human dimensions program (SGP-HD) immediately following approval in June 2007 and intends to integrate CRNII and SGP HD through meetings with Principal Investigators and the SAC.
• The institute is pursuing several funding proposals and partnerships, including a proposal to the MacArthur foundation to evaluate climate change impacts on Andean biodiversity, a proposal to IDRC for rural development and landuse change studies due in August 2007, and a proposal to NSF for training activities in June 2007.
• Scheduled operational and educational activities include the 2nd IAI-NCAR colloquium in late 2007/early 2008, the implementation and launch of the IAI-CPTEC Internship Program, and a training institute on multiple use of rivers in semi-arid regions scheduled for November 2007 in Propriá, Brazil.
