Report of the Chair of the Executive Council

The Chair of the IAI Executive Council oversaw the appointment of members to several committees, including a Committee Ad Hoc tasked with addressing financial needs and the relevance of IAI activities. • The Executive Council established a Committee Ad Hoc, chaired by the IAI Director, to investigate four primary areas: the IAI Directorate's increased financial requirements, the alignment of IAI activities with the global research agenda and member countries, the benefits member countries receive from IAI activities, and the financial capacity of member countries to meet agreed contributions.
• Following calls for nominations, the EC Bureau and IAI Director appointed specific individuals to IAI committees: Bárbara Garea (Cuba) and Margaret Leinen (USA) to the Committee Ad Hoc; Vanessa Richardson (USA), Louis Grittani (Canada), and Paulo de Oliveira (Brazil) to the Financial and Administrative Committee; and Louis Brown (USA) to the Committee on Rules and Procedures.
• Two vacancies on the IAI Editorial Board were filled by Luis Mata (Venezuela), representing the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC), and Zoila Aquino (Panama), representing the Conference of the Parties (CoP).
• The EC Chair coordinated the agenda for a joint meeting of the EC, CoP, and SAC in Venezuela through teleconferences with the EC Bureau (Canada and Cuba), the host representative from Venezuela, the IAI Directorate, and members of the SAC, EC, and CoP.
