A Joint Declaration of Intent signed on 6 July 2023 between the United Nations Development Coordination Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (DCO LAC) and the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) to collaborate on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

• The Signatories intend to collaborate on technical and scientific cooperation to promote the co-production and use of transdisciplinary science regarding global change processes. This effort aims to support policies and actions for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a specific focus on the links between health, environment, and climate.
• The partnership involves joint participation in designing initiatives that promote institutional cooperation, inclusivity, and equitable access to science. These initiatives will focus on acceleration issues related to the United Nations 'Our Common Agenda', specifically: Behavioral Science, Strategic Foresight, Innovation and Digital Transformation, Data, Analysis and Communications, and Performance and Results Orientation.
• The agreement establishes that the DCO LAC and the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research, or their respective Resident Coordination Offices (RCOs) in the LAC region, will negotiate specific agreements once mutual interest activities are identified. These subsequent agreements must be signed before activities begin and must detail financial arrangements and the liability and responsibilities of each party.
• The Declaration of Intent is a non-binding document that does not create legally binding rights or obligations for the Signatories.
