Decisiones y acciones

The 40th Meeting of the IAI Executive Council in Lima, Peru, resulted in several governance decisions, including the creation of a Selection Commission for the Executive Director (comprising Argentina, Brazil, Canada, USA, and Peru) and a commission on member participation (comprising Argentina, Canada, Chile, and Paraguay). The Council also addressed the Host Country Agreement for Brazil, potential research lines for CRN 4 at CoP 24, and partnerships with Future Earth and the Group on Earth Observations (GEO).

• The Executive Council (CE) established a Selection Commission to manage the election process for the Executive Director, consisting of members from Argentina (President), Brazil, Canada, the USA, and Peru. The commission was tasked with presenting a proposal for Terms of Reference and a schedule in September 2015, and launching an international call for nominations with a two-month deadline for submissions. Additionally, the current Executive Director's contract was extended by 6 months to facilitate the hiring and approval process by CoP 24.
• The CE approved several administrative and strategic actions, including the creation of a commission to work on member country participation in the IAI, composed of Argentina, Canada, Chile (President), and Paraguay. Other decisions included requesting the SAC to identify ways to interact with the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), expressing interest in participating in the Future Earth program under equitable partnership conditions, and accepting a proposal from Canada to draft terms of reference for an open science working group.
• The CE directed the Executive Directorate to inform the Tripartite Structure Implementation Commission that the Host Country Agreement for the Brazil Scientific Development Office would soon be ready for review. Furthermore, the CE decided to include a discussion on potential research lines for CRN 4 on the agenda for CoP 24, with contributions from the SAC, SPAC, and Executive Directorate.
